Striker is one of the twelve power classifications created by the PRT still in modern day use.[1] Strikers are parahumans with close range abilities.[2]

MethodologyEdit

Strikers are parahumans that have powers that are touch-based or melee ranged.[2] This includes a large amount of different abilities, including, but not limited to:

  • The ability to empower weapons or other objects, granting them unique qualities.[3][4]
  • The power to impart some sort of changed state on a target through touch.[5]
  • The power to create weapons.[6]
  • Abilities that enhance melee strikes with a variety of effects.[7]
  • Particularly short ranged forms of telekinesis, including pyrokinesis.[6]

It should be noted that enhanced strength is not a Striker power, but part of the Brute classification,[5] although Flechette claimed differently.[6]

Trigger eventsEdit

PRT countermeasuresEdit

When dealing with Strikers, PRT-teams’ general response is to maintain a set distance and maintain sight on the Striker. Open areas are preferred over cramped quarters. Unlike most other classifications, the Striker rating has no additional countermeasures for a rating of nine or higher.[5]

  6. 6.0 6.1 6.2 Flechette wasn’t a breaker, though her power came close.  Technically, she was a striker, a cape with the ability to apply some effect by touch or at point-blank range.  The striker classification could include certain breaker effects as they were applied to things other than the cape themselves, but not always.  Other strikers included those who used energy weapons, those who had certain kinds of superstrength that weren’t accompanied by durability and those with pyrokinesis or such that didn’t extend more than a foot around them.  The way she used her ability, coupled with the intuitive understanding of angles, trajectories and timing she got from her secondary powers, gave her a low rating as a ‘blaster’.  A cape with a ranged attack. - Sentinel 9.2
  7. Catscratch #R0101 Offers a minor effect or weapon (claws, flaming, icy, sonic booms on impact) that augments both hands. Also offers either enhanced attack speed, raw attack power, enhanced reflexes, or doubles down on the aforementioned effect/weapon. On delivering an attack, gain an augmentation for follow-up attacks, carrying over until the fighting ceases for a minute or more. Can affect herself independently of the general effect, with some benefits of a dampening effect alongside the benefits of acceleration, justifying her Brute, Striker and Mover classifications.     Striker 5, Shifter 1

    Mother of Glory Girl, adoptive mother of Panacea, wife to Flashbang. A onetime criminal lawyer, Carol cannot actively practice due to her superheroic activities as a member of New Wave, and has settled for handling legal issues for the team whilst managing PR and media contacts. In effect, she serves as manager of the team.

    Carol Dallon has the ability to create weapons and martial shields out of 'hard light', or light augmented by concussive or kinetic force. A martial combatant capable of delivering explosively powerful strikes or shearing through even steel, she also has the ability to transform herself into a sphere of hard light, whereupon she is unable to move (unless struck, in which case she flies about normally) but is virtually invulnerable. - Brandish, edit by Wildbow.

    His ability to see the ‘shadows’ about people was an extension of this power. He could see the general makeup of the two weapons, the phantom images, the underlying physics, in lines and shapes and patterns.

    It was about perspectives. Relationships. He’d drawn them into one blade, with the appearance of the larger, the properties of the smaller.

    The third blade was decorative, with a ceramic blade, gold and silver embellishments and inlays in the blade. The thing was ten feet long from end to end, and again, it had the cannon set within. Combining the first blade with this one proved more difficult. He granted the weapon the appearance of this blade, gave it the cutting edge, but retained the lightweight mass and the durability of the largest weapon. - Excerpt from Interlude 24

Initially fragile, breaking if the target is already moving at a walking pace at the point of contact, the forcefield sets to a consistency akin to sheet metal, capable of being bent or broken with exerted force at the edges.   22. Clockblocker, Dennis – Current leader of the local Wards. Puts objects and people on ‘pause’ by touching them, freezing them in time for an indeterminate period. Frozen objects are rendered unable to move or be moved. Something of a rebel, he picked his name as a way of thumbing his nose at his superiors. Has struggled with a dad who had leukemia, the shifting leadership structure of the Wards and the local superhero teams as a whole, and his own perception of the teams in general. - Cast (In Depth)
  23. Dauntless is a striker/trump. The two aspects are irrevocably linked, thus the slash. In briefer terms, he'd simply be a trump - he gives himself powers, in an indirect fashion. If his shard had manifested differently, he wouldn't have the need for 'totems' - objects linked to the manifestation of his power.   24. Dauntless (Deceased) – Armsmaster’s unwitting rival. Had the ability to empower items with a gradual, cumulative degree of power.     Ticket came in re: our systems check on Mr. Fraser. We can add the following to what we know:
    • Cape name confirmed as Upperhand.
    • Targeted and defeated a blaster/striker cape called Facet. The cape was powerful, and highly sought after by the San Francisco team, creating crystal growths with a touch and dismantling them for catastrophic artillery-level sieges. Facet was pulverized beyond all recognition.
    • Targeted and defeated two capes in one confrontation:
      • A shifter villain by the name of Deviant. The cape could manifest changes in reaction to wounds, but the changes were to areas far from the wound site. Deviant was shredded.
      • A weapon dealer Blaster capable of ‘machine gunning’ endless sprays of needles, punching through concrete, was torn in half, midsection pulverized.
    • Protectorate member by the name of Hydrofoil was targeted. A brute/mover cape with a personal shield that produced torrents of water in reaction to breaches, traveling by means of a personal tidal wave, was found in an apartment. The floorboards of the apartment apparently shattered, and Hydrofoil’s shattered remains were piled within the ensuing depression.   31. She could do other things, but the primary benefit, the easiest thing to do, was making her ammunition punch through anything. It would glue itself in place on impact, if she had the effect wear off at the right time, and she was very good at timing things. He speared through the computer, then swung the blunted side of the weapon at the couch. The woman rolled out of the way, and energy rippled away from the lance, freezing and shredding cushions.

  40. Licit is a little more viable as a hero, making forcefields in basic geometric shapes, suspended in air. Cubes, spheres, cones, etc. He can allow others to pass through these forcefields at will, or make them relatively impenetrable. He's fit, driven, and focused, but his mindset and approach to things make the big city bad for him - he's exceedingly susceptible to bad influences, particularly where partying, sex, drugs, and drama are involved. In a small town, he's distanced from the worst of that, and he remains reasonably happy. He takes on more active duty than Edict, maintaining a stricter police-PRT liason role, going on ride-alongs and ensuring the local police stay up to date. Like Edict, he'll frequently go to other small towns to check in on things if there's a new cape or something, help with out-of-town crises, etc, and the PRT receiving him know to keep tabs on him during leisure hours. - reddit comment by Wildbow.
